 Workington Town Council is the grassroots council for the civil parish of Workington.  It is served by 25 councillors drawn from the whole town community.  The Chairman of the Council is The Mayor of Workington.

WW1 Centenary Parades

Workington Town Council helps to organise the marking of Remembrance Sunday, by working in collaboration with various local organisations such as the British Legion and the Poppy Appeal. The parades and services take place in both Harrington and Workington.

 

Schedules for 2018 are as follows;
 

HARRINGTON SCHEDULE:

  • 9.30am: Assemble at Harrington Royal British Legion Club.

  • 9.40am: Parade begins.

  • 9.50am: Parade arrives at St Mary's Parish Church, Harrington.

  • 10-10.45am: Service in St Mary’s Parish Church, Harrington.

  • 10.45am: Parade moves to Cenotaph for short service.

  • 11.15am: Parade arrives back at Harrington Royal British Legion Club.


WORKINGTON SCHEDULE

  • 1.45pm: Assemble at Pow Street in the town centre of Workington.

  • 2pm: Parade begins.

  • 2.15pm: Parade arrives at the Cenotaph in Vulcan Park for the service and wreath laying ceremony.

  • 3pm: Service at Church.
