Workington Mayor Launches Christmas Card Competition

Workington Mayor Launches Christmas Card Competition

Workington Town Council’s Mayor, Cllr Janet King, has launched her Christmas Card competition for 2020 with the theme of ‘The Joy of Christmas’.

The competition is open to anyone from the age of 4-18 years old, who lives in Workington.

The winning picture will be used on the front of the Mayor’s Christmas card and in addition to this, the winner will be invited to switch on the Town’s Christmas lights on 28 November at 5pm alongside the Mayor. The switching on of the lights will be broadcast via a live social media stream to ensure social distancing guidelines can be followed.

The winner, plus a runner up in each age category will receive a hamper full of goodies.

Age categories are 4-7 years, 8-11 years, and 12-18 years.

Cllr King commented; I am so pleased we are still able to run the competition this year, and although we had to cancel the Christmas Festival, we still really wanted to do something for the children. I really hope they have fun with the theme. Christmas is going to be a bit different from previous years, but it doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate the joy it brings to us all.’
