Annual Meeting & Mayor Making
Every year Workington Town Council holds its Annual Meeting.

Prior to the official meeting starting, the outgoing Mayor will carry out a speech on his year in office, events and highlights and will present charities with fundraising totals and award winners chosen by The Mayor.
Once this has taken place, the official Annual Meeting of the Council begins.
​
The first agenda item is to nominate and elect a new Mayor for the forthcoming year.
Once elected the new Mayor will carry out a speech on their plans and hopes for the year ahead and will then Chair the rest of the meeting.
​
During the meeting a Deputy Mayor will also be voted and elected, committee membership will be voted on and confirmed, along with Chairs and Vice Chairs for each committee.
The Council will also carry out any other relevant business required at this meeting.

The schedule of meetings for the forthcoming year are also confirmed.
​
Once the meeting is over, refreshments are served.
​
Members of the public are very welcome to attend this meeting and ceremony and stay to meet The new Mayor and Councillors.
