Workington's Five Year Plan
Your Town, Your Voice
Workington Town Council's 25 elected councillors, led by our Mayor, are planning the next five years for our town. But we can't do it without you.
This plan focuses on what matters most to Workington residents - creating a thriving, inclusive community where everyone can flourish. We're working with local partners, organisations, and funders to make these priorities happen.
Our Four Priorities
1. Social Investment
Objective: To create long-term social and economic benefits for the community.
Supporting our community through funding local organisations, promoting public health and safety, and celebrating what makes Workington special. From tackling disadvantage to showcasing our heritage and culture - we're investing in people.
2. Community Engagement
Objective: To strengthen connections between the council and our residents.
Creating better ways for you to have your say through digital platforms, regular newsletters, volunteer programmes, and annual community awards.
Your voice matters, and we want to hear it.
3. Public Spaces & Sustainable Development
Objective: To assist in the future development and growth of the town.
Improving our town's infrastructure with more benches, bins, cycle racks, and better bus stops. We're enhancing connections to our green and blue spaces whilst planning for sustainable growth.
4. Environmental Sustainability
Objective: To foster an environmentally sustainable and resilient community.
Building a greener future through community gardens,
tree planting,solar-powered defibrillators, and biodiversity schemes.
Protecting our open spaces for nature, sport, and recreation.
