Park End Shelter

We’re bringing a historic building back to life – for the community.

Workington Town Council are proud to be restoring this derelict, historically significant building and transforming it into a welcoming space that supports residents of all ages. Which will be available free of charge to non-profit and voluntary organisations. Once renovated, the building will host workshops and events that benefit local people, focusing on health, sustainability, creativity, and wellbeing. We want to hear from residents about what activities they would like to see delivered here by community and voluntary organisations.

The Community Hub will focus on:

  • Health & Wellbeing – including healthy eating, nutrition, and practical support for everyday life

  • Climate Action & Sustainability – skills for greener living, reuse, repair, and environmental awareness

  • Creativity & Community – arts, crafts, learning, and social activities that bring people together

Why We’re Asking for Your Views

This building is for you. Before final plans are confirmed, we want to hear from local people about how the space should be used.

What activities would you like local non-profits to deliver here?

The building will not be available for private hire or commercial use. Priority will be given to non-profit and voluntary organisations delivering activities that align with community wellbeing objectives.
